• Best Practices

Effective schools have a commitment to excellence. This begins with a vision that informs a plan and focuses on implementation, assessment, and new ideas. Schools all over the country are committed to transforming schools into real learning centers. Of course, technology is an essential component. In this Best Practices section, you will find case studies, success stories, testimonials, and other examples of how technology is working in model classrooms around the country.

  • The Challenge
This large district is supported by a relatively small IT staff. The tech team needed an efficient way to implement a far-reaching, district wide technology refresh program.

    The Solution
Having a technology partner in Dell, North East ISD has been able to institute a comprehensive technology refresh initiative with streamlined online computer ordering and reporting, delivery and installation. In addition, the district operates a Help Desk to provide real-time trouble shooting support to campus personnel as well as parents.

    The Benefits
Dell’s simple processes, reliable delivery and service support programs have enabled the district to outfit its schools with more than 6,300 new systems in less than 12 months.

"Ideally, it should be just as easy for a student to access technology as it is for them to pull out a pencil and piece of paper. Having streamlined delivery and installation process for the computers that works hand-in-hand with centralized troubleshooting support brings us one step closer to that dream."
    - Derek Nichols, Assistant Director of Educational Technology for the North East ISD

“Our teachers are deserving of the best teaching tools we can provide them. These computers have placed a world of information in our teachers’ hands...the technology will open new avenues of learning in our classrooms.”

—Fred Sanderson Superintendent Cobb County Public Schools

“Students have become empowered. They help each other. It’s opened their eyes to so much more than they ever thought existed.”

—Lori Harper Science Teacher St. Joseph’s Academy Baton Rouge, Louisiana

“I can create math problems at home (often using an electronic library of pre-configured geometric shapes), email them to myself at school, and then call them up on the electronic whiteboard connected to my computer. Students can drag and drop shapes and manipulate them to see if they will fit in the pre-configured space. This kind of hands-on interaction enriches the entire learning experience.”

—Lee Grams Bellevue School District Redmond, Washington

What is a Model Intelligent Classroom?
